Just because it’s in the middle of the desert doesn’t mean you can’t make snowballs inRiyadh. Snow World, one of the city’s most unusual clubs, is designed to offer an Arctic experience to people who don’t usually have the opportunity to make snowmen or slide down snowy slopes on inner tubes.

Heavy jackets and boots are supplied to customers who can walk on snowshoes past model Swiss chalets and crenulated ice palaces brightly illuminated with neon lights. Gliding through the exhibits, visitors encounter model penguins and polar bears inhabiting spaces festooned with snow banks, snow-covered pine trees and frosty icicles.

Towering in one exhibit area, blocks of ice are stacked to form a set of pyramids — serving to remind guests they’re in the desert after all. Located on King Abdullah Street in the Al Mugharazat District, Snow World is the antithesis of sand dunes — one cool place to try a unique desert experience.
